Check out this quick and easy breakfast smoothie! The oatmeal is optional—I personally am not a fan of eating oatmeal every morning. To help this, I add dry oatmeal to my smoothies to get some extra substance and incorporate oatmeal in a different way.
- 1 packet of Dry Oatmeal
- 1 Banana
- 1 cup Frozen Mixed Berries
- ½ cup water (use water if you’re using flavored oatmeal; if you’re not, replace water with ½ cup juice)
- Add all ingredients in the order listed and blend!
I mentioned the flavored oatmeal packets above and here’s what I mean. I use the Weight Control maple and brown sugar flavored oatmeal. Not because I want to lose weight, but because these packets have more protein for a slight sacrifice of 1 or 2 grams of more sugar. That doesn’t really bother me but because it’s already sweetened and flavored, I’ll use water. If you’re using plain oatmeal and want your smoothie to be a little sweeter, I would recommend using juice in place of the water or diluted juice if you’re not keen on the sugar.
Smoothies are all about preference and customization! You decide how sweet or unsweetened it is; how thick or thin the consistency is. Have fun with it, and drink up! Look out for the next post about my disastrous Dole smoothie purchase.
