This time I ordered one of their specials for the day (I’m sorry I don’t remember the name): an omelet that had chicken, asparagus, tomatoes, and Swiss cheese—also topped with hollandaise sauce. I’m starting to notice an asparagus and hollandaise sauce trend here in Gainseville haha. It was delicious! Not only was the omelet delicious, I also substituted corned beef hash as my side and it definitely was not what I was expecting! IT WAS REAL CORNED BEEF! Holy moly! I was expecting, you know, canned corned beef as I would get at most diners. This isn’t to say that I don’t like the canned corned beef used at most diners, I enjoy it, but this…real corned beef?? Amazing… such an awesome and delightful surprise.
But it doesn’t stop there. My husband ordered their Steak and Eggs dish and he loved it. He ordered it Medium and admitted that he wasn’t even expecting it to come out with the perfect color and temperature. Low and behold the steak was perfect for him—I even got a piece of it and it was seasoned well, still juicy, and very tender.
So Metro Diner gets high ratings from me. I don’t know when I’ll ever be back in Gainesville but if I ever find myself there again, you can bet I’ll be at Metro Diner for breakfast. I’d love to try some more of their dishes!
