I thought I’d take some time to share with everyone what my fitness goals are as of this point. I also wanted to get you thinking about where you are right now and how much progression you’d like to see with yourself in about 6 months!
By May 2017 I want to be able to run a 5K comfortably. Perhaps in the months that follow run a 5K marathon. It makes me laugh because I have to emphasize on the word “comfortably” here haha. Meaning, I don’t want to be dying the entire 3.1 miles— I want to run it at an 8-9 minute mile pace and still feel fan-freaking-tastic at the end. Like I just conquered the world or something. Those of you who know me personally or who have read my previous blogs know that I don’t actually enjoy running so I’m thinking this first short term goal will kick my butt back into gear. Current Pace: 10min 21sec mile (roughly)
Squats: By May 2017 I want to be able to squat 10 reps at 130lbs (all weight measurements include the 40lb barbell or 20lb Smith Machine bar) without my knee sleeve. This also includes me breaking 90 degrees in depth and maintaining proper form as well as control. Current Weight: 5 reps at 120lbs without the knee sleeve.
Bench: By May 2017 my goal is to bench (without an arch) 80lbs. I don’t know if I’m a fan of it, I see it everywhere for females and I still have yet to gather information as to why that’s done. Any tips or reasoning from fitness readers would be awesome. Current Weight: 8 reps at 70lbs It seems like I’ve been stuck at 70-75 for a little while now so I’m looking forward to getting out of that slump.
I won’t go into every goal I have for each exercise I do as far as weightlifting goes. Squats and bench are of course the more common ones and usually the ones I post about here or on Instagram (@amazel_chef).
